You received a news alert on your phone that in the early hours of this morning, a local registered sex offender was found to have
been the victim of a bear mauling. Actually, you hacked him up with a chainsaw and left his remains for the coyotes, but it sounds like bears got to him first this time.
It occurs to you that you've never even seen a bear anywhere near Luna Vista. According to Marla Fletcher, Luna Vista's official homicide detective, bears were a pretty common sighting when she was in high school, and there was generally at least one bear mauling every couple of years. Then again, when she was in high school, apparently people used to hang out at the mall for reasons other than making graffiti, or your favoite, hiding dead bodies of the dead pedophiles you've killed.
You've even seen graffiti implying that you're killing all the pedophiles. Well, okay, you are killing some of them, but you're not the only one responsible for all the dead pedophiles. Detective Fletcher's own mother kills pedophiles too!
As you approach the stairs, you see your mom coming out the master bedroom door - the last door on your left before the stairs.
