You have a feeling you're going to regret this - despite being near her forty-fifth birthday this coming November, your mom still runs at least ten miles a day, and regularly participates in 5k runs, 10k runs, and even occasional marathons, you actually decide to join your mom on her run anyway. You head back to your room to change into more appropriate attire, and meet her at the front door.
You're able to keep up with her for about a mile without any trouble, though on the second mile you notice you're having a little trouble keeping up. By the third mile, you find yourself catching your breath.
She stops to make sure you're all right, and you feign it off at first, but you're not sure you should continue. She runs at least 10 miles a day on any given day, pretty much since she was your age.
"We can start back if you like," she says.
